Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP) has issued a recall on approximately 13,000 snowmobiles sold across North America in model year 2024.
BRP has indicated Ski-Doo MXZ and Renegade snowmobile models equipped with Pilot X skis from this production period may encounter sudden damage to their left ski due to an issue in the molding process with their supplier. This damage may result in instability of the vehicle, loss of control, or a crash.
Vehicle owners are advised not to use or ride their snowmobile until the recall repair is completed at their local servicing dealership.
BRP is issuing recall notices to affected vehicles at this time and urge customers to schedule an appointment with their dealership to have the repairs completed at no cost. Additionally, they request vehicle owners do not complete any repairs, or proceed with an inspection themselves, and to allow the dealership to repair vehicles to specification.
In a letter to consumers, BRP indicated this repair should take less than an hour to complete.
Impacted models will have “Pilot X” engraved on the back, upper side of their skis. Only model year 2024 vehicles are impacted.
BRP will be issuing notices directly to customers soon with further instructions and information.
Owners may also call BRP toll-free at 888-272-9222 from 8:00am to 8:00pm Eastern, Monday through Sunday.
More details can be found on theย Consumer Product Safety Commission website, under recall #24-140.
