Pirelli Scorpion Rally Tires

Pirelli has released new sizes of their popular Scorpion Rally motorcycle tires that are designed for use in high-displacement dual-sport bikes, like the BMW R 1200 GS or Yamaha XT1200Z Super Ténéré, reports Cycle News.

The new tires are available in 110/80-19 sizes for the front and 150/70-17 for the rear and feature a brand-new compound designed to be more durable for these types of bikes.

The carcass of the new tire features thick ply cords, which help minimize vibrations as the tires get up to speed. The material used for the tires is capable of functioning on either the street or rougher terrain, as bikes like the Super Ténéré are well-known for their ability to tackle both streets and sand dunes.

What most riders will appreciate are the new tread patterns. Like the rest of the tire, they were designed with two types of terrain in mind. The new front tires feature a 4-5-4 block layout with knobs intended to improve traction in sand and other soft surfaces.

The rear tires, on the other hand, are much thicker and feature wider tread blocks to reduce sliding as riders go into turns.
