BREAKING: BRP Victim of Cyberattack

By Will Burgess

Valcourt, QC β€” BRP Inc. (NASDAQ: DOOO) announced in a statement Tuesday morning they were the target of a malicious cyber attack against their internal networks and IT systems, including their dealer communication network.

In the wake of the discovery on Monday, BRP has suspended access to their internal systems including vehicle production at their factory facilities and access for dealerships to submit warranty claims or use diagnostic tools to repair vehicles.

BRP said in a statement: “Immediate measures were taken by BRP to contain the situation. We are working with cybersecurity experts to resolve this issue. These measures are expected to impact operations and pause production in the short term.”

The company has deployed its internal network of IT professionals in addition to outside cybersecurity experts to resolve this issue and restore services soon.

This attack comes amid the ongoing Club BRP global product launch event happening now in Salt Lake City, UT.

BRP also finalized an agreement to partner with Kongsberg Automotive ASA and its subsidiary Kongsberg Inc. of Kongsberg, Norway, to acquire their Shawinigan, Quebec manufacturing plant and research center.
In a statement, Kongsberg divulged it is selling the Shawinigan assets to BRP for a total value of CAD$136 million.

No word on if this attack was coordinated as a result of the acquisition or the Club BRP conference.
