RECALL ALERT: BRP Issues Recalls for 2022-23 Ski-Doo and Lynx Snowmobiles for Known Fire Issues

By Gerard Rossman

Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP) has issued a recall on approximately 4,070 snowmobiles across its Ski-Doo and Lynx brands that were sold during model years 2022 and 2023.

BRP has discovered the main injector fuel return hose can leak, and fire could occur in the presence of an ignition source. In some situations, this fire hazard could also result in serious property damage, injuries or even death.

Vehicle owners are requested not to use or ride their snowmobile until the recall is completed.

BRP is issuing recall notices to affected vehicles at this time and urge customers to schedule an appointment with their servicing dealership to have the repairs completed at no cost. Additionally, they request vehicle owners do not complete any repairs themselves and to allow the dealership to repair vehicles to specification.

This recall involves all model year 2023 Ski-Doo Freeride and Summit model snowmobiles equipped with an 850E-TEC Turbo R Engine and all Lynx Shredder model snowmobiles equipped with an 850 E-TEC Turbo R Engine.

The following models may be affected:

Model YearModel Name
2023Ski-Doo Freeride 850 E-TEC Turbo R
2022Ski-Doo Summit 850 E-TEC Turbo R
2023Lynx Shredder 850 E-TEC Turbo R

BRP will be issuing notices directly to customers soon with further instructions and information.
Owners may also call BRP toll-free at 888-272-9222 from 8:00am to 8:00pm Eastern, Monday through Sunday.

Ski-Doo had previously recalled select 2022 E-TEC snowmobiles with fuel injection for a similar fuel leak hazard.

More details can be found on the Consumer Product Safety Commission website, under recall #23-786.
