How to Replace Honda ATV Brakes

Honda ATVs’ brakes are behind each wheel mounted to each brake rotor. You don’t need to remove the wheels to change the brakes because they are in clear view. The brake calipers are secured to a metal frame around the rotor by two bolts. The size of the bolts is different for each model, so you will need a standard ratchet set. Buy the replacement brake pads at an auto parts store or the Honda ATV dealer.

Instructions

1) Lie on your back and slide behind one of the wheels. Loosen the two bolts on the caliper using the ratchet set.

2) Pull the caliper off the rotor’s frame. Pull the brake pads from the inside of the caliper and set the old pads aside.

3) Push the piston back into the caliper using the ratchet’s handle. Slide the new brake pads into the caliper so that they are in the same position as the old ones.

4) Place the caliper onto the frame around the rotor. Tighten the bolts until they are snug. Repeat for the other brakes
