Buchanan, Mich. βΒ Team USA swept the competition on Sunday at the Monster Energy Motocross of Nations (MXoN) at Red Bud.
Led by Eli Tomac, the team took the first place position with a sixteen point scorecard to become the overall winners and World Champions against the 33 other teams.
Tomac, racing for Yamaha, was off to a great start at race #1 when he finished in first place, while teammate Justin Cooper (Yamaha) landed in the top ten to award the team ten overall points and the top ranked team of the day thus far.
Chase Sexton, racing with Honda, took an impressive second place victory in race #2, followed by a third and sixth place respective podium for Cooper and Tomac in the final race #3 of the day, in spite of conditions.
When we woke up to rain this morning, I thought, uh-oh, this could really level the playing field,” said Tomac, “but we came through strong, even in these muddy conditions. We’ve waited 11-years for this. It’s a long time to wait, so this is very special to us.”
The victory marks the first time since 2011 the US has won the MXoN. Tomac has had a dream 2022 season becoming both the Motocross and Supercross Champion as well as the ESPY Award for Best Athlete in Men’s Action Sports.
This is a well earned victory for Tomac and his team!
The MXoN took place this year at Red Bud Motocross Track in Buchanan, Mich. making the win this year even more gratifying. The 2023 MXoN will take place at Moto Club Ernee in France, with dates to be announced.
